18510 Chasles (1996 SN) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on September 16 1996 by P. G. Comba at Prescott. Named for Michel Chasles (1793-1880) a professor at the École Polytechnique and later at the Sorbonne. His main contributions were in projective geometry which he developed with a synthetic approach. In later life he made a comprehensive study of the history of geometry.
