18024 Dobson is an asteroid which was discovered on May 20 1999 by James M. Roe at Oaxaca. It is named in honor of John Dobson whose simplified telescope mounting design revolutionized amateur astronomy. Asteroid (18024) Dobson makes its closest approach to the Earth (2.361 AU) on the 30th September 2012. ↑
