179 Klytaemnestra is a fairly large main belt asteroid that was discovered by Canadian-American astronomer James Craig Watson on November 11 1877. It was the last of his 22 asteroid discoveries and was named after Clytemnestra the wife of Agamemnon in Greek mythology.
