166 Rhodope is a main belt asteroid a member of the Adeona family of asteroids. It was discovered by the German-American astronomer Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters on August 15 1876 in Clinton New York and named after Rhodope the queen in Greek mythology who was turned into a mountain.166 Rhodope was observed occulting the prominent star Regulus on October 19 2005 from Vibo Valentia Italy.
