1660 Wood (1953 GA) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on April 7 1953 by the astronomet J. A. Bruwer at The Johannesburg Observatory in South Africa. This asteroid was named for the British/ South African astronomer Harry Edwin Wood (1881 – 1946) who had formerly been the head of the observatory at which this asteroid was discovered and who had discovered 12 asteroids himself between 1911 and 1928.
