16444 Godefroy (provisional designation: 1989 GW1) is a main-belt minor planet. It was discovered by Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory in Chile on April 3 1989. It is named after the Godefroy Wendelin a Flemish astronomer of the 16th and 17th centuries.
