15045 Walesdymond (1998 XY21) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on December 10 1998 by Spacewatch at Kitt Peak. The asteroid was named after the astronomers William Wales and his assistant Joseph Dymond who were sent on an expedition by the Royal Society to Hudson Bay to observe the 1769 transit of Venus.
