1161 Thessalia is a main belt asteroid orbiting the Sun. Approximately 30 kilometers in diameter it makes a revolution around the Sun once every 6 years. It was discovered by Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at Heidelberg Germany on September 29 1929. Its provisional designation was 1929 SF. Later named for the region in eastern Greece.
