1140 Crimea is a main-belt asteroid orbiting the Sun. Approximately 28 kilometers in diameter it makes a revolution around the Sun once every 5 years. It completes one rotation once every 10 hours and its orbital period is 4.61 years. It was discovered by Grigory Nikolaevich Neujmin on December 30 1929 at the Simeiz Observatory. It is named for the European peninsula of Crimea (at the time part of the Russian SFSR) where Simeiz is located. Its provisional designation was 1929 YC.
