İZBAN sometimes referred to as Egeray is a metropolitan rail system which is transformed from historic commuter rail line serving İzmir and its metropolitan area. It renders service to about 185000 passengers daily. İZBAN is a portmanteau of the words İzmir and Banliyö (suburb in Turkish).Established in 2007 and began operations in 2010 İZBAN was formed to revive old commuter rail in İzmir.
