The Tanana languages are Athabaskan languages that include two languages which are Lower Tanana (or Minto) and Upper Tanana (or Nabesna). They are spoken by the Tanana Athabaskans of Alaska and Canada (Beaver Creek Yukon). About 30 people speak Lower Tanana and 100 people speak Upper Tanana. Mostly the elders speak it but many young people are trying to learn it to prevent its extinction.
