Ranil Wickremesinghe (Sinhala: රනිල් වික්රමසිංහTamil: ரணில் விக்ரமசிங்க; born 24 March 1949) is a Sri Lankan politician and current Leader of the Opposition in the Sri Lankan parliament. He was Prime Minister of Sri Lanka twice from 7 May 1993 to 19 August 1994 and from 9 December 2001 to 6 April 2004. A member of the United National Party he was appointed party leader in November 1994.
