Madchester is a British music scene that developed in the Manchester area England towards the late 1980s and into the early 1990s. The music that emerged from the scene mixed alternative rock psychedelic rock and electronic dance music. Artists associated with the scene included the Happy Mondays the Stone Roses the Inspiral Carpets Northside Paris Angels 808 State James the Charlatans and A Guy Called Gerald.
